About Us

Christy Howell Sweeney has been a member of the Kentucky Bar since 2001. She opened her own firm in 2003 and has remained in private practice ever since, focusing her talents in DUI defense, criminal defense, business law and contract negotiations.

Mrs. Sweeney is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and admitted to practice before all Kentucky State Courts. She is also licensed to practice before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, the US District Court Eastern District of Kentucky and the US District Court Western District Kentucky.

Mrs. Sweeney graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2001. She also received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in 1998, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Spanish and Political Science. While pursuing her education, Mrs. Sweeney was actively involved in the university. She served as the President of Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honor Society), and as the Vice President of Societas Pro Legibus (Legal Honorary). She was also a member of the Spanish Honorary and the Golden Key Honorary. While in law school, Mrs. Sweeney was a member of the Student Bar Association and the Women’s Law Caucus.

As a Kentucky Colonel, Mrs. Sweeney is dedicated to community service. She has volunteered on numerous occasions as a Judge for the Annual Robert E. Sanders Eastern Kentucky University Invitational Mock Trial Tournament. She volunteered her legal services to inmates at the Federal Medical Center Prison through an internship while attending the University of Kentucky College of Law. She has further donated her service assisting elderly and financially underprivileged persons helping to draft wills, create power of attorneys and assisting with divorce and custody issues through the UK College of Law Legal Clinic. She gave a presentation to single mothers and abused and/or homeless women regarding their legal rights, community resources and educational and job placement opportunities at the Salvation Army. She has volunteered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as being a member of the “Friend Finder’s Board” at the Woodford Humane Society.
